Georgia-Hungary: New Opportunities in Economic and Business Relations 

Hungary as European Union and NATO member state continuously demonstrates very strong support to Georgian European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. Hungary was one of the first countries to ratify AA/DCFTA with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Hungary also makes every effort to deepen economic and business cooperation with Georgia. Two years ago Georgian-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was established. The third session of the Commission will be held in Budapest in October 2015. 

One of the most important events during recent years in Georgian-Hungarian relations has been the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia H.E. Mr. Irakli Garibashvili to Budapest in February 2015. During this visit, Hungarian Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Viktor Orban promised his Georgian counterpart full support in Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, visa liberalization process and Euro-Atlantic Integration. At the end of his visit, Georgian Prime- Minister, together with Director of the Georgian National Investment Agency addressed Hungarian companies at the specifically organized “Business Forum”.

As a result of this visit, the Hungarian Eximbank Plc, and the Hungarian Export Credit Insurance Plc expressed their readiness to support and facilitate the bilateral trade between Hungary and Georgia by strengthening business ties between these two countries.

On July 2015 The Hungarian National Trading House has signed the partner contract with the Georgian side on establishing a Representative Office in Tbilisi aiming at enhancing and improving of bilateral trade.

The reconstruction of the water and wastewater systems in Georgia was discussed by the Hungarian company “Budapest Waterworks” and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Georgia during the negotiations held in Tbilisi in June 2015. Herewith, the United Water Supply Company of Georgia and “Budapest Waterworks” discussed the opportunities of the future relationship development.
