Main functions and responsibilities:

  • Conducting the analysis of the foreign and domestic policy of the neighbouring countries;
  • Presenting relevant proposals regarding Georgia’s foreign policy concept and main directions with respect to the neighbouring countires and regional organizations;
  • Presenting relevant proposals and recommendations to the Georgian President, Parliament and Government  regarding Georgia’s relations with the neighbouring countires and regional organizations;
  • Working out proposals, within the scope of the Department’s competence, with a view to improving the implementation of Georgia’s foreign policy course;
  • Preparing for and participating in the negotiations held by Georgia’s representatives with the neighbouring countries;
  • Facilitating Georgia’s inter-parliamentary relations with the neighbouring countries;
  • Working out proposals regarding the signature, ratification and denunciation of international treaties with the neighbouring countries;
  • Contributing to the development of relations between Georgia and the neighbouring countries;
  • Promoting Georgia’s political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation with the neighbouring countries.
