Frank-Walter Steinmeier: “We have discussed the ways to strengthen German Business in Georgia”

During the meeting between Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, special attention was devoted to the increasing level of relations between the two countries in various areas, including in the sector of economy.
According to Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German Government takes a close interest in finding the ways to further develop German Business in Georgia.
“We have highlighted the process in which these relations are being developed between the two countries. At the beginning of the meeting we welcomed participants of the Georgian-German business workshop – the first workshop to be held in Berlin. We spoke about the ways to strengthen economic relations and to enhance the volume of German business in Germany” – Steinmeier is quoted as saying.
The Georgian Vice Prime Minister, on his part, emphasized that “the development of economic relations with Germany, in particular, the enhancement of German business and investments in Georgia, is one of the key priorities of the Georgian Government. In this context, the Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, offers Georgia a series of additional opportunities. The task before us is to stir up interest in Georgia’s investment potential among the German business communities. We therefore highly appreciate our German partners’ readiness to further develop co-operation in this direction” – Giorgi Kvirikashvili emphasized.  
Berlin hosts the workshop under the aegis of the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the German marketing agency Deutschland- Land der Ideen.
The Georgian delegation included representatives of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, Export Development Agency, Georgian Business Association, National Tourism Agency, Government Administration and various private companies.
It needs to be emphasized that Frank-Walter Steinmeier voiced the initiative to conduct respective measures towards the activation of economic relations between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany during his visit to Georgia.
