Mikheil Janelidze has met the State Department's Coordinator for Sanctions Policy Daniel Fried

13.01.2017, Trakai – Within the framework of his visit to Lithuania, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with the State Department's Coordinator for Sanctions Policy Daniel Fried.
The sides spoke about the friendly relations between Georgia and Lithuania emphasizing the importance of strategic partnership.
Mikheil Janelidze thanked the U.S. government for Georgia’s support expressing the hope that the new President’s administration will continue to further back Georgia. For his part, Daniel Fried highlighted Georgia’s important role in the region and the impressive progress the country has achieved on its path of development.
Talking points also included the challenges in the region. Special attention was paid to the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and Russia’s policy aimed at annexation of Georgia’s occupied regions, which negative affects the region’s security.   
Speaking about bilateral relations, the Minister highlighted the newly-appointed Ambassador Davit Bakradze’s efforts to further deepen co-operation between Georgia and the U.S.
