Davit Zalkaliani has held bilateral meetings within the framework of the OSCE Annual Security Review Conference

Within the framework of the Annual Security Review Conference, the Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister met representatives of the informal group of Georgia’s friends – U.S., Canada, Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

The Georgian First Deputy Minister provided his colleagues with information on the human rights violations and the difficult security situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. Discussions also focused on the Geneva International Discussions and on the importance of peaceful resolution of the Georgian-Russian conflict. Davit Zalkaliani also spoke about the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia, Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the progress Georgia has achieved in this process.

On 28 June, Davit Zalkaliani held a meeting with Herbert Salber, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia and the Co-chair of the Geneva International Discussions where the sides spoke about the latest developments within the Geneva talks and the grave human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied territories.

The Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister paid special attention to the murder of Giga Otkhozoria in the village of Khurcha, on 19 May, underlining the need to immediately detain the perpetrators of this crime. The importance of restoring the IPRM in Gali was also highlighted. The sides expressed the hope that meetings in this format will further continue.
