A high-level meeting to mark the 40th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act

A high-level meeting to mark the 40th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act was held in Helsinki, on 9 and 10 July 2015, under the aegis of the Serbian Chairmanship of the OSCE and the Finnish Government. First Deputy Foreign Minister David Dondua and Georgian Ambassador to the OSCE Konstantine Zaldastanishvili attended the meeting from the Georgian side.

Discussions focused on the ways to ensure security in Europe. In his address the Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister spoke about the security challenges facing Georgia and the region as a whole paying special attention to the developments in the Abkhazian and Tskhinvali regions and the dire security and humanitarian situation there. David Dondua also outlined steps that need to be taken, in the opinion of the Georgian side, in order to enhance the OSCE’s role in strengthening security in Europe and ensuring respect for the principles of the Helsinki Final Act.

 First Deputy Foreign Minister David Dondua held working meetings with representatives of the OSCE and its member countries.
