"This visit is very important, because we know that Georgia is our close partner" - Walter Stevens, the Chairman of the European Union’s Political and Security Committee

05.10.2017, Tbilisi - The Chairman of the European Union’s Political and Security Committee, Walter Stevens spoke about the importance of the Committee’s visit to Georgia saying that the arrival of ambassadors of 28 EU Member States provides yet another proof of the European Union’s support for Georgia.
Underlining the success Georgia has achieved in the process of implementing reforms, Walter Stevens, during his meeting with Mikheil Janelidze, underlined the positive dynamics of Georgia-EU relationship:“Georgia is our important partner in the region. I would like to highlight the considerable efforts Georgia has made in carrying out the reforms in all directions, including in the implementation process of the Association Agreement. I am glad Georgians can benefit from visa liberalisation which is due to the reforms Georgia has delivered successfully”  - Walter Stevens said.
Walter Stevens also pointed out that as part of their visit, the ambassadors will get acquainted with the reforms carried out in the country, and with the current security issues. The ambassadors will also visit the occupation line and the EUMM office in Georgia. 

During the visit, the ambassadors will also hold meetings with the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, the Defense Minister, the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament and civil society representatives.
