By being here I’d like to express my solidarity with and respect for Georgia - Jean-Christophe Belliard

16.12.2018, Telavi -“Georgia and the European Union enjoy very close relations. By being here I’d like to express my solidarity with and respect for Georgia. I’d also like to highlight how much important this closeness between Georgia and the EU is” - The   Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service, Jean-Christophe Belliard said when commenting on the inauguration of the 5th president of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili. 
 
 
He paid special attention to the high-level EU-Georgia meeting held on 21 November in Brussels and highlighted the importance of launching visa-free travel with the EU. Jean-Christophe Belliard also spoke about the recent developments in the Azov Sea. “Georgia is a neighbor of this difficult area and by being here I’d like to express my solidarity with and respect for Georgia” - The   Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service said.
 
According to him, electing a woman as President of Georgia for the first time in the history of  the country is a highly important fact.

  
The inauguration ceremony of Salome Zurabishvili has been attended by 150 high level guests from 55 countries in Telavi, Kakheti region.
