Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its concern over the use of chemical weapons in the town of Khan Shaykhun, which resulted in the massive casualties among peaceful population.

By deploying the chemical weapons, Syria violates the norms of international law.

These actions could not continue to go unanswered. Therefore, we believe that the United States response was timely, limited and proportional. It is important that the strikes occurred only after the due warning.

We hope that the international community will manifest the principled and united position in order to restore peace in Syria.
