​The Georgian and Uruguayan Foreign Ministers agreed to further deepen relations between the two countries

19.03.19, Montevideo – “We are small countries amid big states and therefore we are facing similar challenges and aspirations” – the Uruguayan Foreign Minister, Rodolfo Nin Novoa said following his meeting with his Georgian counterpart, David Zalkaliani.

The two foreign ministers appraised the Georgian delegation’s visit to Uruguay as a clear proof of friendly relations between the two countries.
 
The ministers noted with satisfaction close contacts established over the past few years between the executive and legislative branches of the government. The ministers also  welcomed the fact that the positions of Georgia and Uruguay coincide on globally important issues and processes. David Zalkalaiani thanked his Uruguayan counterpart for his government’s support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and provided him with information regarding the developments in the occupied regions of Georgia.
 
The ministers paid special attention to the further development of trade-economic relations between Georgia and Uruguay. It was highlighted that Georgia’s strategic location and its free trade agreements with the world’s leading economies makes Georgia attractive for international investors.

Discussions also focused on co-operation in the areas of business, tourism, education and culture.  High interest was expressed in the development of agriculture and animal husbandry. The sides took special note of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Uruguay.
 
The Georgian Foreign Minister invited his Uruguayan counterpart to Georgia.
