Eastern Partnership is a very successful project and will remain as one of the priority items on the EU agenda - Margot Wallström

11.07.2019, Batumi – The first session of the Batumi International Conference -“Ten Years of Partnership – Sowing Seeds in Good Soil” was moderated by the International Broadcaster Nik Gowing, who first of all asked the foreign ministers of Sweden and Poland as initiators of Eastern Partnership to take stock of the past ten years.
 
Having reviewed the early period of the Eastern Partnership project and the outlooks the EU then maintained for the enlargement of the neighbourhood,  Margot Wallström, Minister of Foreign Affairs  of Sweden said that Eastern Partnership met the expectations and became a very successful project that will remain as one of the priority items on the EU agenda.
 
To the moderator’s question regarding the EU sanctions against Russia, Margot Wallström said that the EU has to work consistently on keeping the sanctions and the policy it has established against Russia and its behaviour in Ukraine and other countries. According to the Swedish Foreign Minister, the EU must show reaction on the occupation and resulting crisis in EaP countries.
