Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration on the agenda of Ambassadorial 2017

19.07.2017, Tbilisi – Participants of Ambassadorial 2017 discussed issues relating to Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Among speakers were Chair of the EU Integration Committee Tamar Khulordava, Georgia’s State Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Victor Dolidze, Chair of the Defense and Security Committee Irakli Sesiashvili, Minister of Defence Levan Izoria, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Shalva Khutsishvili. The panel was moderated by Deputy Foreign Minister Vakhtang Makharoblishvili and Deputy Foreign Minister David Dondua.

The speakers spoke about the ongoing reforms in Georgia, the country’s European path, the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU and enhancement of Georgia’s defence capabilities. The reforms implemented by Georgia following the Wales and Warsaw summits were also highlighted. Discussions also focused on Georgia’s participation in international peacekeeping missions and its contribution to the strengthening of international security.  The Speakers also paid special attention to the need to fight against anti-western propaganda and to raise public awareness in this regard. Talking points also included the state of affairs following visa liberalization with the EU. Special mention was made of the diplomats’ role in advancing Georgia’s pursuit of European integration.
