David Zalkaliani has met the Chairman of the Bundestag's Committee on Foreign Affairs

04.07.2018, Berlin – Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani met the Chairman of the Bundestag 's Committee on Foreign Affairs, Norbert Röttgen.

David Zalkaliani  thanked Norbert Röttgen for his tremendous contribution to the development of German-Georgian relations which are based on many years of friendship and partnership.
Discussions focused on Georgia’s full-scale European and Euro-Atlantic integration that is atop the list of priorities of the new cabinet of ministers. Talking points included the forthcoming summit of NATO. The sides expressed the hope that the progress achieved by Georgia on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration will be reflected in the  Brussels Summit decisions to be taken in the context of the open door policy. Georgia’s role in ensuring the Black Sea region’s as well as global security was also highlighted.

The sides discussed the grave human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and Georgia’s peaceful policy for the conflict resolution. David Zalkaliani also briefed the German MPs on the Otkhozoria-Tatunashvili list developed by the Government in order to ensure that all perpetrators of human rights violations are brought to justice.

David Zalkaliani brought to the attention of Norbert Röttgen Georgia’s peace policy and initiatives aimed at improving the social and economic situation of the population living along the occupation line and offering them the same benefits as other citizens of Georgia derive from integration with the EU.
