David Zalkaliani meets with the Japanese Ambassador to Georgia

Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani held a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Georgia Tadaharu Uehara.

Discussing a broad spectrum of cooperation between Georgia and Japan, the sides paid special attention to Japan’s Caucasus Initiative under which the countries cooperate for the development of infrastructure and human resources, as well as for the attraction of Japanese private businesses to Georgia.

Talking points included the need to further develop political and economic relations, to exchange high-level visits, to improve the legislative framework and to implement co-operation projects in the areas of culture and education.

Reaffirming, on behalf of the Japanese government, his support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Japanese Ambassador said that Japan opposes any attempt to redraw the internationally recognized borders of Georgia.

David Zalkaliani, for his part, thanked the Ambassador for the financial assistance Japan has been rendering to Georgia for many years and expressed the hope that
the planned projects will be successfully.
