David Zalkaliani has met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi

 ​25.02.2019, Geneva - The Georgian Foreign Minister, David Zalkaliani  met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.
 
Highly appraising Georgia’s co-operation with the UNHCR Office, the sides expressed their satisfaction at the programmes jointly implemented in Georgia to meet the needs of refugees.
 
The High Commissioner praised the Georgian Government’s peace initiative “A Step to a Better Future” and highlighted the UNHCR role in ensuring its successful implementation.
 
Conversations included the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. David Zalkaliani updated Filippo Grandi on the difficult security and human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied regions and Russia’s destructive actions on the ground.
 
The importance of the UNHCR’s participation in the Geneva International Discussions was also highlighted.
