David Zalkaliani has met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller

27.03.2019, Brussels - Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller. Discussions focused on the eventful agenda of NATO-Georgia relations that points to Georgia’s high position on the Alliance’s political agenda and should also be viewed through the prism of the upcoming NATO Ministerial scheduled to take place on 4 April, in Washington.
The sides took special note of the NATO Secretary General’s recent visit to Georgia and the strong messages made during this visit. They highly appraised the NATO-Georgia joint exercises which provide a further proof of NATO’s firm support for Georgia and contribute to enhancement of Georgia’s defence capabilities and interoperability with NATO standards. The sides also welcomed the NATO Military Committee’s third visit to Georgia, which points to the increasing level of Georgia’s successful co-operation with NATO.
Highlighting the importance of the NATO-Georgia Commission dealing with Black Sea security-related issues, the sides emphasized Georgia’s significant role and practical engagement in ensuring Black Sea security. According to David Zalkaliani and Rose Gottemoeller, high level visits, joint military exercises and other mechanisms of co-operation contribute to Georgia’s further integration with NATO.
