David Zalkaliani has met his Romanian counterpart

4.03.2019, Bucharest – Within the framework of his visit to Romania, the Georgian Foreign Minister, David Zalkaliani met with his Romanian counterpart Teodor Melescanu.
The Minister thanked his colleague for hospitality in Romania where the Bucharest Statement was signed aimed at promoting the implementation of the Black Sea-Caspian Freight Transport Corridor.
The sides welcomed Romania’s upcoming EU presidency. Special note was taken of the 10th anniversary of eastern Partnership and of the need to assess the results Georgia has achieved by this time. Romania highly appraised Georgia’s progress on EU integration path. It was highlighted that with its reforms and progress Georgia is the leader among EaP countries.

The Ministers positively appraised the Georgia-Romania bilateral relations and the need to develop these relations at a strategic level and to exchange bilateral visits.

The Ministers expressed their readiness to actively co-operate for the development of economic and people-to-people contacts, especially in the area of tourism.  Positive appraisal was given to Romanian Airline Tarom’s direct flights and an interest was expressed in increasing the frequency of such flights. The Romanian Foreign Minister expressed his desire to visit Georgia.
