Romania is a firm supporter of Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration path - David Zalkaliani

15.04.2019, Bucharest – The Georgian Prime Minister’s visit to Romania is highly important as Romania is the current presidency of the EU Council.
 
Appraising Mamuka Bakhtadze’s visit to Romania, David Zalkaliani said that discussions during the bilateral meetings focused on such important issues as bilateral relations, deepening of economic links and prospects for the effective use of the Black Sea region.

„The Black Sea region is under the international spotlight both in the context of NATO and Black Sea security. It is important to further develop Black Sea infrastructure projects. We also discussed the effective use of transport potential” – David Zalkaliani said. 
 
According to the Minister, of particular importance is the quadrilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Georgia, Romania, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan that was held about a month ago where the participants of the meeting discussed the ways to connect the Caspian region with the Black Sea Region via Georgia.
 
“Conversations also included energy projects and Georgia’s European integration prospects.  Romania is a firm supporter of Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration path” - David Zalkaliani said.
 
According to the Minister 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of Eastern Partnership and the role of Romania as the EU presidency is highly important in this context.  Zalkaliani said that the agenda of the meetings held in Bucharest dealt with the issues relating to preparations for the Eastern Partnership Ministerial and defence and security cooperation between Georgia and Romania.
