David Zalkaliani thanked the Spanish congressmen for their support of Georgia within international parliamentary formats

29.01.2019, Spain – Within the framework of his visit to Spain, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Zalkaliani held a meeting with Maria Soraya Rodriguez Ramos, the chair of the Joint Commission for the European Union of Congress of Deputies of Spain, as well as other members of the Congress.  
The sides noted with satisfaction the successful co-operation between the two countries both in bilateral and multilateral formats. Special attention was paid to Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration process.
According to the Spanish congressmen, Georgia is a reliable partner of Europe and one of the  successful countries in the region. Spain fully supports Georgia European and Euro-Atlantic integration not as an aspiration of the government of any political group, but rather, as the choice of the Georgian people.
The Minister brought to the attention of the congressmen   the EU Integration Roadmap – the Georgian Government’s recent initiative, which is aimed at ensuring a greater level of legislative, sectoral and physical integration with the EU.

The Spanish congressmen highly appraised Georgia’s infrastructure projects playing an essential role in the development of international transit routes.
Discussions also focused on Georgia’s NATO integration process and Georgia’s successful reforms in the defence and security sector. The Spanish side thanked the Georgian delegation for Georgia’s contribution to international peace and security.
The Georgian side, for its part expressed its gratitude for Spain’s firm support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including for international resolutions, declarations and other documents supporting Georgia.   

David Zalkaliani invited the congressmen   to attend the Batumi conference this year, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the EU Eastern Partnership initiative.
