25th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Kingdom of Spain

10.07.2017 Tbilisi - On July 9th, 2017  Georgia and the Kingdom of Spain celebrate 25 years of establishing diplomatic relations.

It is delightful that over the last 25 years truly friendly relations and successful partnership based on common values, vision and mutual respect have established between Georgia and Spain.

Cooperation between our countries has been developing dynamically in political, economic, cultural, educational and other fields. We welcome increasing trade turnover with Spain, growing interest of Spanish business sector towards Georgia and intensifying people to people contacts. The successful results of cooperation in multilateral format are also impressive.
The government of Georgia highly appreciates Spain’s firm support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration process. Georgian Government is also grateful for Spain’s significant contribution to the decision making process on granting Visa-free travel for the citizens of Georgia within the European Union area.
On the way of enhancing diplomatic relations between the two countries, it was important to appoint Chargé d'affaires of Spain to Georgia in 2015, with the perspective of establishing a full-fledged embassy in the nearest future. In view of the challenges facing the world today it is pivotal to further promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation in pursuance of the common goals for global peace and security.
We, once again, welcome the true and steadfast friendly relations between Georgia and Spain, and believe, that the bilateral cooperation will continue with even greater enthusiasm for the sake of welfare of our people.
