Mikheil Janelidze has met his Qatari colleague

28.02.2017, Geneva – On the sidelines of the 34th session of the UN Human Rights Council. Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
The two Ministers positively appraised co-operation between the two countries in the bilateral format, as well as within the international organizations. Special note was taken of the first round of political consultations held between the Georgian and Qatari Foreign Ministries held in Qatar on 5 and 6 February.
The Ministers spoke about Georgia’s investment environment favourable for the development of business and the opportunities, which the DCFTA opens up for Georgia as well as for its partners. The Qatari side expressed it interest in the Georgian Government’s package of reforms, including in the development of business and transit infrastructure.  

The sides highlighted the high dynamics of co-operation in the development of people-to-people contacts and tourism. They welcomed the decision to introduce everyday flights between Georgia and Qatar.  

Special note was taken of the importance of exchanging high-level visits between the two countries. The Qatari side welcomed the Georgian Prime Minister’s decision to visit Qatar within the framework of the Doha forum.
