Mikheil Janelidze: “The European idea on the Rustaveli Avenue was defeated when demonstrators were dispersed forcefully”

15.05.2018, Tbilisi – “The European idea on the Rustaveli Avenue was defeated when demonstrators were dispersed, detained and killed. Today, by demonstrating an example of democratic development, a very high standard, Georgia made yet another step towards European integration - The Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze said when responding to the opposition criticism regarding the recent developments on the Rustaveli Avenue.


According to Mikheil Janelidze, the rights of all demonstrators were absolutely protected on Sunday and will continue to be so in the future. Mikheil Janelidze expressed his belief that the policy and approaches that will be elaborated in the future will be acceptable to the wider public and not to any particular group.  
 
Mikheil Janelidze spoke on the the concept of the EU integration roadmap -ROADMAP2EU at the joint hearing of the Parliament’s European Integration and Foreign Relations committees. The meeting was held in a Q&A format. The Minister answered the questions of the members of the parliamentary majority and minority groups.
