Mikheil Janelidze participated in the Higher National Defence Course

5.07.2017, Tbilisi – Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze in the Higher National Defence Course dedicated to national security issues. Mikheil Janelidze appeared with a speech before the participants of the course highlighting the priorities of Georgia’s foreign policy.
 
The Minister identified the principles of inviolability of borders and the strengthening of Georgia’s sovereignty, de-occupation and peaceful resolution of the conflict as key priorities of Georgia. He extensively spoke about Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations focusing on the six priorties in the process of Georgia’s integration with the EU. According to Mikheil Janelidze, Georgia is recognized as the leader among the Eastern Partnership countries. While on the theme of NATO integration, the Minister highlighted the decisions of the NATO Wales and Warsaw summits and the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package.  He reaffirmed the importance of conducting the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Tbilisi.
 
Mikheil Janelidze also spoke about the need to deepen strategic partnership with the U.S., Georgia’s contribution to the fight against global challenges, economic diplomacy, protection of the rights of Georgian citizens abroad and strengthening of relations with Diaspora.



Higher National Defence Course was officially launched at Ambassador Hotel in Kachreti.
 
The objective of the Higher National Defence Course is to highlight Georgia`s current security system in the regional and international context, including analyzing the role and responsibility of each Georgian citizen in the formation of national defence and security systems.
Higher National Defence Course was established as an analogue to the courses adapted in Nordic and Baltic nations and is being held in Georgia for the sixth times by the support of Estonia`s Ministry of Defence. DIB School and NATO Professional Development Program (PDP) provided an organizational support for the course.
