Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the meeting between the leaders of the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia welcomes the results of the summit meeting held between the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in and the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un in Panmunjeom, on 27 April 2018.

Georgia supports the dialogue and the process of negotiations, as well as the active efforts over the recent period that have created a prerequisite for achieving a substantial progress. The Panmunjeom Declaration that serves the shared goal of the two countries and the international community as a whole – securing the safe and peaceful development - is also appraised highly.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the hope that the tangible results achieved during the meeting of 27 April will provide a solid basis for and contribute to the prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and the region, as well as of the Korean people.
