Georgia is among the 15 countries included in the EU initiative "Good Human Rights Stories"

15.05.2018, Tbilisi - A special 15-country list was elaborated within the EU Good Human Rights Stories initiative, composed of countries which have achieved significant progress for human rights protection and are now exemplary for other nations. Georgia is the only country in the region to be included in this list - European Union Special Representative for Human Rights Stavros Lambrinidis said about this at the press conference following his meeting with the Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze.
 
“Ththe initiative is composed of countries which have achieved significant progress for human rights protection and are now exemplary for other nations. We are proud of human rights partnership with Georgia at this transitional stage,” Lambrinidis said at a press conference.
 
Good Human Rights Stories (GHRS) initiative was presented by Stavros Lambrinidis in 2018 in connection with the 70th anniversary of adoption of the Universal Human Rights Declaration. It aims to spread new, positive experience for human rights protection in the world.
Inter-regional group will be established to share successful stories in human rights. Along with Georgia, the group will include Norway, Argentina, New Zealand, Uruguay, Chile, Indonesia, Korea and other countries. The initiative and the group will be presented within the framework of the General Debate of the 73rd   session of UN General Assembly.
