The Georgian Foreign Minister has met the Finance Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Eklil Ahmad Hakimi

 28.06.2017, Tbilisi – Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with Finance Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Eklil Ahmad Hakimi who paid a two-day visit to Georgia.
 
The sides discussed important issues on the agenda of bilateral co-operation highlighting the need to find effective mechanisms for developing trade-economic co-operation between the two countries, including for establishing a joint economic commission. The sides referred to the Lapis Lazuli transit corridor as one of the priority projects connecting the transport infrastructure of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey and being oriented towards increasing the traffic of cargo among these countries.
 
Special note was taken of the successful co-operation between the two countries both in bilateral and multilateral formats. The Afghan Minister expressed his gratitude for Georgia’s contribution to the strengthening of security in Afghanistan and for its participation in the NATO Peacekeeping Mission. The Georgian Foreign Minister, for his part, thanked the Afghan Minister for Afghanistan’s firm support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
