Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in reaction to the terrorist act in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia expresses its concern over multiple terrorists attacks made by suicide bombers on 21 April 2019, in Colombo, the capital of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and in the cities of Batticaloa and Negombo killing 290 people and leaving up to 500 – injured. We are profoundly shocked by the scope of the tragedy and the barbaric acts of violence that undoubtedly amount to the gravest crimes against civilized world.

Georgia strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms, for which there is no justification whatsoever.  In this difficult hour, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia expresses its solidarity with the Government and people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, conveying its condolences to the families of the terror victims and wishing speedy recovery to those who have been injured in the deadly attacks.
