The Georgian Foreign Ministry wishes to express its deep sorrow over the death of the former South African President and Nobel Laureate, Mr Nelson Mandela, and conveys its condolences to the government and people of South Africa and to Mr Mandela's family.

Georgian wine-making traditions on the World Heritage List
At its 8th session (held in Baku from the 2nd to the 7th of December 2013), the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Non-Material Cultural Heritage adopted a decision to place the Georgian traditional method of making wine in ‘kvevri' (large earthenware vessels) on the World Heritage list.

On the 3rd of December 2013, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze, met the U.S. Secretary of State, Mr John Kerry. The Georgian Foreign Minister was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the United States, Mr Archil Gegeshidze, and Georgia's Representative to NATO, Mr Levan Dolidze, whilst the U.S. Secretary of State was accompanied by the Assistant Secretary of State, Ms Victoria Nuland, the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Mr Douglas Lute, and the former U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, Mr John Bass.
