Ilia Darchiashvili has met with members of the European Parliament during his working visit to Brussels

During his working visit to Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili met with members of the European Parliament - Chairwoman of the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee, Marina Kaljurand and the Rapporteur on Georgia, Sven Mikser.
The sides discussed current issues of Georgia-EU relations, and reforms implemented or ongoing in the country within the framework of the Association Agreement. Discussions focused on Georgia's EU membership application and further steps in this regard.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the high level of mobilization of institutional capacity by the government, as a result of which Georgia successfully completed and submitted ahead of schedule the self-assessment questionnaire to the European Commission.
Ilia Darchiashvili reaffirmed the country's commitment to the course of reforms and noted the readiness of the government to do even more on the path to EU integration to meet the EU membership criteria.
The sides also paid special attention to the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine on the regional security and the challenges facing Georgia.
The sides highlighted the European Parliament’s important role in Georgia's European integration, as well as in overcoming the security challenges facing Georgia.
The Minister thanked Marina Kaljurand and Sven Mikser for their personal efforts and support for Georgia.
