The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia met with his Moldovan counterpart

On 31 August 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with his Moldovan counterpart, Nicu Popescu. The meeting took place in Prague, within the framework of the informal ministerial meeting of the European Union.
 
The Georgian and Moldovan Foreign Ministers highly appraised the invitation of the Associated Trio countries to the EU ministerial meeting as a proof of the EU's strong and unwavering support. Discussions focused on the Associated Trio’s European integration and progress in this regard, as well as on the implementation of the European Commission's recommendations.
 
The sides discussed the Associated Trio’s role and its importance on the new geopolitical agenda. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of taking joint steps in the future.
 
Ilia Darchiashvili and Nicu Popescu exchanged views on various issues of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Moldova. Talking points also included the security environment in the region. The sides once again emphasized their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other’s countries.
