Georgian Diaspora representatives have been awarded for their contribution to various fields



On 10 May 2019, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani hosted an official Diaspora Awards Ceremony. Awards went to 11 Diaspora representatives identified in 6 nominations through contest organized by the Georgian Foreign Ministry, theInternational Centre for Migration Policy Development(ICMPD) and the EU-fundedproject 'Enhancing Georgia's Migration Management' (ENIGMMA).


Diaspora awards went to:

Giorgi Grigolia, Honorary Doctor of Tbilisi State Medical University, Doctor of Medicine at Munich University Clinic and Zurab Berezhiani, Professorof Theoretical Physics, L'Aquila University. Italy - for their contribution to science;

Iberia Ozgan-Melashvili, Head of the Georgian Art Centre in Istanbul and the founder of Georgian folk music groups: Machakhela and the Caucasus; Zurab Tsutskiridze, President of Art Society ofDeisiin France and Tinatin Svanidze-Venco,Founder of the Georgian Culture Centre in the Kingdom of the Netherlands - for promotion of Georgian culture abroad;

Dali Ubilava De Graaf, founder of ArtEcho Foundation in the Kingdom of the Netherlands - for promotion of Georgia’s image abroad

Liana Jikia-Gogrichiani, founder of first Georgian Sunday school in the UK; Tinatin Chitinashvili, Deputy Chair of the Georgian community in Germany – for charitable activities.

Luigi Magarotti, professor of Georgian studies, Ca Foscari University ofVenice and Hinalka Babiraki, professor of Georgian studies, translator and poet – for devoted friendship to Georgia.

The event was attended by members of the executive and legislative branches of the Georgian government, members of the parliament, diplomats and invited guests.
