From 1 December 2024 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia
Born on 15th of August, 1978 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
From 2020 to 2024 Maka Botchorishvili was a member of the 10th convocation of the Parliament of Georgia. She served as a Chair of the EU Integration Committee and was a member of the Foreign Relations Committee; In addition, during her term at the Parliament of Georgia, she was head of EU-Georgia PAC and head of Permanent Representations of Georgia in EURONEST PA. Maka Botchorishvili was also a member of the OSCE PA Delegation, the Standing Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality and the Standing Parliamentary Council for Open Government.
Since 2020, she is the member of the Political Council of the Political Party “Georgian Dream – DemocraIc Georgia”.
From 1999 to 2020, she held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, including:
In 2018-2020 served as Deputy Head of Mission of Georgia to the EU, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and Grand Duchy of Luxembourg;
In 2015-2018 served as Chargé d'affaires, as well as Deputy Head of Mission, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Austria, Mission of Georgia to the OSCE and other International Organizations in Vienna;
In 2014-2015 served as Deputy Director of European Integration Department;
In 2010-2014 was a Counselor at the Mission of Georgia to the EU and the Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium;
In 2009-2010 served as Head of EU-Georgia Relations Unit;
In 2005-2009 was a II secretary at the Mission of Georgia to the EU and the Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium;
In 1999-2005 held various positions at the International Law Department;
In 2000-2005 was a lecturer at the Georgian Diplomatic Academy;
In 2000 graduated with honors the Faculty of Law at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University;
In 1999 graduated with honors in International Relations at the Georgian Independent Diplomatic Academy;
In 2007-2008 studied in International Politics at CERIS - Centre Européen de Recherches Internationales & Stratégiques in Belgium.
She has received the State Award of Georgia - Order of Honor
Besides her native Georgian, Maka Botchorishvili speaks English, Russian, French and Italian.
