Within the framework of the UN High-Level Conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Li Junhua.
The UN representative noted that the Organization actively supports the national-level implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Georgia and commends the efforts of the Georgian Government in this regard. Particular emphasis was placed on the implementation of SDG 16, which envisions the establishment of accountable, transparent, and corruption-free institutions.
Minister Botchorishvili, in turn, highlighted Georgia’s successful experience in the area of good governance and reaffirmed the country’s readiness to share its reform-driven progress with the international community.
The Minister emphasized that in 2026, Tbilisi will host the UN World Public Services Forum. In response, Mr. Junhua expressed his satisfaction with Georgia’s readiness to host the event, noting that it presents an excellent opportunity for the country to once again demonstrate its achievements in the field of public administration before the international community.
The sides also reviewed ongoing cooperation between Georgia and various UN agencies and underlined the UN’s vital role in the peaceful resolution of conflicts, particularly its engagement in the Geneva International Discussions.
