The Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister has met with the acting and newly appointed chief representatives of JICA Georgia Office 

On 21 August 2024, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, met with Mori Hiroyuki, the acting Chief Representative of Georgia Office at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Junji Wakui, the newly appointed Chief Representative. 

During the meeting, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili expressed gratitude to Mori Hiroyuki for the projects implemented, ongoing and planned during his tenure in Georgia, as well as for the technical assistance provided by the agency. He also wished Mori success in his future endeavors. The Deputy Minister congratulated Wakui Junji on his new appointment and wished him success in his forthcoming responsibilities.

The discussion highlighted the strong cooperation between Georgia and Japan, emphasizing the significance of Japan’s official assistance, particularly through JICA, in fostering Georgia’s stable and sustainable development. The conversation also addressed the priority areas outlined in JICA’s assistance policy for Georgia in 2024-2025, with special note made of the arrival of Japanese professional volunteers to share their expertise in various fields.

Both parties expressed hope that the existing high-level cooperation between Georgia and Japan will continue to grow and reach new heights in the coming years, benefiting both nations and their people.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close collaboration, which will help fully realize the potential of their partnership.
