The third round of bilateral political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay

On 15 August 2024, the third round of bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay took place virtually. The consultations were led by Georgia's First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, and Uruguay's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicolas Albertoni.

During the consultations, the parties conducted a thorough review of the key areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. They emphasized the importance of political consultations between their foreign ministries in deepening collaboration across various sectors. The positive dynamics at the political level, reflected in the frequency of bilateral meetings and visits, were particularly noted. The discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and the need to expand trade and economic ties in all possible directions.

The consultations also focused on deepening cooperation in agriculture, tourism, culture, and education. The importance of enhancing the existing bilateral legal framework was underscored.

In addition, representatives from Georgia and Uruguay discussed avenues of cooperation within international and regional organizations, reaffirming their commitment to continuing productive collaboration.

The Deputy Ministers exchanged views on global issues and shared information on security challenges in their respective regions. The Georgian side provided detailed information on the situation in Georgia's occupied territories and expressed gratitude to Uruguay for its steadfast support of Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Both parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue to further deepen their cooperation.
