Another Round of Bilateral Political Consultations Held Between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic

On 28 May 2025, another round of bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Italian Republic was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy.

The Georgian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Zurabashvili, while the Italian side was represented by Edmondo Cirielli, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the consultations, the deputy ministers discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda and reviewed the main areas of cooperation between Georgia and Italy. The discussions focused on deepening collaboration in political, economic, defense, security and education sectors.

The two sides agreed on the need to intensify efforts to further enhance trade and economic ties and fully realize the existing potential in these fields.

The deputy ministers expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation in the areas of education and culture.

The meeting also addressed Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the significant steps the country has taken in this regard. Deputy Minister Cirielli reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Italian government for Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Deputy Minister Giorgi Zurabashvili provided a detailed overview of the current developments in Georgia and the challenges the country is facing.

The conversation also covered issues on the international agenda and global challenges.

As part of his visit to Rome, Deputy Minister Zurabashvili held meetings with the chairs of the Italian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, EU Policies Committee, and Finance Committee, as well as with the head of the Georgia-Italy Friendship Group in the Italian Parliament.

The meetings focused on the strong partnership between the two countries and prospects for future cooperation.
