The Georgian and Hungarian Foreign Ministers have discussed the priorities of Hungary's upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union. 

During his visit to Budapest, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia met with his Hungarian counterpart.

Ilia Darchiashvili and Péter Szijjártó expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing strategic partnership between their respective countries. They noted that this partnership is progressing dynamically, extending beyond political realm to encompass various sectors. The ministers highlighted the significance of the mentioned visit, particularly in light of Hungary's upcoming presidency in the Council of the European Union. Consequently, they addressed Hungary's presidency priorities and Georgia's progress towards EU membership, including the implementation of the European Commission’s relevant recommendations.

As discussed during the meeting, Hungary continues to firmly back Georgia's bid to join the European Union and stands prepared to offer tangible support to facilitate this process. The ministers underscored the ongoing collaboration between the two nations in enhancing connectivity, highlighting the significance of the memorandum on green energy between Georgia and Hungary.

The meeting focused on successful sectoral cooperation, especially in the field of trade and economics

 Additionally, the ministers examined the regional situation and shared perspectives on upcoming high-level visits on the agenda.
