The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili met with Sir Philip Barton, Permanent Under-Secretary of State, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
The sides welcomed the strategic partnership and special dynamics between Georgia and the United Kingdom. The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of the Permanent Under-Secretary’s visit to Georgia, which is another manifestation of the United Kingdom’s increasing involvement in the region and once again confirms the strategic nature of the relations between the two countries. In this context, the special role of the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue was emphasized.
At the meeting, the sides focused special attention on the security environment in the region. Against the background of the current security challenges, the irreversibility of Georgia's foreign policy priorities was also highlighted.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his gratitude to the British side for its support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and the non-recognition policy. Sir Philip Barton, for his part, confirmed the United Kingdom’s unwavering support to Georgia's foreign policy priorities.
