  Ilia Darchiashvili has participated in the session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of GUAM member countries

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, participated in the 41st meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM, which was held on 12 December 2023, in Brussels, within the framework of the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Meeting.

The meeting chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, was also attended by the Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Niku Popescu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bairamov, and the Secretary General of SUAM, Altay Efendiyev.

Ilia Darchiashvili emphasized that GUAM, as an economic cooperation organization with significant trade, energy and transport potential has a special role in strengthening regional cooperation.

The sides summarized the political, inter-parliamentary and sectoral arrangements provided for by the GUAM agenda under Ukraine's chairmanship, special attention was paid to the consultations held with the European Union in the area of transport and connectivity and the importance of further coordinated cooperation.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Azerbaijani side presented information on priorities and main directions of cooperation in 2024.

At the end of the meeting, the sides signed the decision to transfer the chairmanship to Azerbaijan in 2024.
