On 4 October 2023, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, Matus Bushovksi,
presented copies of his credentials to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Teimuraz
Janjalia.
The presentation ceremony was followed by a meeting where the sides discussed the traditionally
friendly relations between Georgia and Slovakia. The priority of further deepening of the bilateral
dialogue and activation of the political consultation mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign
Affairs was also noted.
The deputy minister and the ambassador talked about the prospects of deepening the sectoral
cooperation between Georgia and Slovakia and noted the existing potential in the fields of trade,
economy and tourism.
Special attention was paid to Georgia’s European integration process and the progress made in this
regard. The deputy minister expressed hope that Georgia's efforts will be evaluated accordingly and by
the end of the year the country will receive the status of a candidate country.
Matush Bushovksi expressed his readiness to actively contribute to further deepening of Georgia-
Slovakia relations in all areas. He confirmed Slovakia's unwavering support for the sovereignty and
territorial integrity of Georgia; He also noted that Slovakia actively continues to support Georgia's
European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
