Fourth Round of Political Consultations Between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of the Philippines

On 9 January 2025, the fourth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of the Philippines took place in Manila.

The Georgian delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, while the Philippines was represented by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Theresa Lazaro.

At the beginning of the meeting, Maria Theresa Lazaro, on behalf of the President and Government of the Republic of the Philippines, extended her congratulations to Georgia on the election of its new President and the formation of the new government. She expressed hope that 2025 would see an increase in high-level bilateral visits.

During the consultations, the parties discussed a range of cooperation issues between Georgia and the Philippines in both bilateral and multilateral formats, with particular emphasis on the importance of maintaining active parliamentary cooperation.

Special focus was placed on expanding collaboration in trade, economics, tourism, transport, and logistics.

At the conclusion of the consultations, the Deputy Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the mutual recognition of seafarers' certificates.

As part of the visit, the Georgian delegation also met with the Philippines' Minister of Transport, Jaime Bautista, to explore future cooperation prospects in the air transport sector.

Additionally, the Georgian side held meetings at the headquarters of the Asian Development Bank and engaged with representatives from the Philippines Chamber of Commerce and local business leaders.
