The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, in Geneva within the framework of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council.
The discussion focused on Georgia’s participation in the activities of the United Nations and its institutions, as well as the organization's crucial role in promoting global peace and development.
Minister Botchorishvili expressed gratitude to the Secretary-General for the UN’s continued support for Georgia. The meeting also addressed the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions.
The parties placed particular emphasis on the active engagement of the United Nations in the Geneva International Discussions. Additionally, the importance of UN resolutions concerning Georgia was reaffirmed.
During the meeting, the sides discussed global and regional security challenges, underscoring the necessity of maintaining peace and stability in the current geopolitical context.
The conversation also touched upon Georgia’s positive economic development trajectory and its role in the region.
Minister Botchorishvili extended an invitation to the Secretary-General to visit Georgia and reaffirmed the country's commitment to supporting UN initiatives and actively engaging in efforts to promote global peace, development, and the resolution of global challenges.
