Within the NATO Summit, Ilia Darchiashvili Meets Xavier Colomina

On 9 July 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili met with Xavier Colomina, the special representative of the NATO Secretary General for the Caucasus and Central Asia, during the 75th NATO anniversary summit in Washington.

The discussion covered the 75th anniversary summit and the significant issues to be addressed within its framework. It was highlighted that the participation of the Georgian delegation at the summit reaffirms the successful progress of Georgia's integration into NATO.

The meeting focused on Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration. It was emphasized that aspirant Georgia has consistently been a reliable partner of the Alliance, significantly contributing to the strengthening of Euro-Atlantic security.

The progress of Georgia on its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration, including the enhancement of the country's defense capabilities, was acknowledged. Additionally, the importance of both practical and political support from the Alliance was underscored. The conversation also covered ongoing regional developments, the security environment, and Russia's war in Ukraine.

It was noted that bolstering security in the broader Black Sea region is crucial for ensuring peace and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area. The parties agreed to continue active cooperation to achieve common goals.
