Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden

On 7 May 2024, Ilia Darchiashvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, held a meeting with Sweden's Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell, on his  visit to Tbilisi.

During the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the strong and friendly relations between Georgia and Sweden. They highlighted the importance of maintaining a robust political dialogue and exchanging high-level visits between the two countries.

The ministers also discussed the increasing momentum in trade and economic relations and underscored the necessity of deepening business ties to maximize the existing potential.

Minister Darchiashvili praised Sweden as a loyal friend and reliable partner, emphasizing Georgia's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors of mutual interest.

He also expressed gratitude for Sweden's support in implementing reforms aligned with Georgia's European agenda and emphasized the significance of Sweden's backing during the negotiations for Georgia's accession to the European Union.

In response, Minister Forssell reiterated Sweden's friendship and steadfast support for Georgia's foreign policy priorities. He reaffirmed Sweden's unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting Sweden's priority of seeing Georgia successfully integrate into the European Union as a full member.

Minister Forssell commended the activities of Swedish companies in Georgia and expressed readiness to continue fruitful international development cooperation with Georgia.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the draft law "On the transparency of foreign influence," with both parties exchanging views and opinions on the matter.

In conclusion, both ministers affirmed their commitment to maintaining close and mutually beneficial cooperation, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
