Giorgi Zurabashvili has participated in high-level events in Geneva

On 8 April 2025, Giorgi Zurabashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, participated in a series of high-level events held at the United Nations Office in Geneva. The events focused on enhancing regional cooperation and strengthening transport and energy connectivity across Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe.

Deputy Minister Zurabashvili delivered a statement at the extended ministerial meeting of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA+), held in the framework of the 71st session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

In his address, Zurabashvili reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to fostering regional integration, particularly through the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, optimization of logistics, and harmonization of digital systems. He presented Georgia as a safe and reliable partner and a vital bridge connecting Europe and Asia.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister took part in a high-level meeting with business representatives titled Enhancing Trade and Transport Connectivity along the Middle Corridor. The event was organized by the permanent missions of the member states of the Middle Corridor Group. In his remarks, Zurabashvili emphasized that Georgia is an open and growing economy, distinguished by its strategic geographic location, competitive tax system, and extensive network of free trade agreements, which together provide access to a market of 2.4 billion consumers.

Special emphasis was placed on the Anaklia Port project, described as a transformative infrastructure hub between Europe and Asia. Zurabashvili noted that the project will significantly enhance Georgia’s role as a regional logistics hub and increase the corridor’s overall capacity.

The Deputy Minister’s visit once again underscored Georgia’s strong support for regional platforms and the country’s readiness to actively contribute to the advancement of international initiatives.
