The First Stage of the Grant Competitions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Has Concluded

The first stage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia’s grant programs - “Support for Diaspora Initiatives” and “Support for Georgian Dance and Song Ensembles Abroad” - has concluded.

This stage involved assessing candidates’ applications for compliance with the formal requirements, which entails the submission of documents specified by the grant programs and adherence to the deadlines established therein.

Members of the competition committee, composed of representatives from the Parliament of Georgia’s Committee on Diaspora and Caucasus Issues, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth of Georgia, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed various organizational matters and agreed upon a schedule for candidate interviews. They also provided input on the general criteria that will guide the candidate selection process, including candidates’ motivation, experience in diaspora activities, and awareness of the programs, as well as knowledge of Georgia and the host country. Following the committee’s decision, the candidates advancing to the next stage were identified, and written notifications regarding their status have been sent to all participants.

These programs aim to strengthen the connection of the Georgian diaspora with their homeland, promote Georgia and Georgian culture abroad, implement initiatives supporting the country’s European integration and national interests, and foster the preservation of national identity and cultural distinctiveness among fellow citizens abroad. Within the framework of these grant programs, the winners selected for the next stage will implement a diverse range of cultural, creative, sports, educational, and other activities in their host countries by 31 December 2024.
