The 2023 grant competition, “Support for Diaspora Initiatives,” has been announced.

The objective of the grant program is to foster the engagement of compatriots residing abroad in advancing Georgia’s national interests on the international stage, to promote the country globally, and to support initiatives aligned with Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration agenda. The program further seeks to enhance international awareness regarding de-occupation and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, and to contribute to keeping these issues active on the global agenda. Additional goals include promoting Georgia’s economic potential and domestic production, safeguarding national identity and cultural heritage among compatriots abroad—including raising awareness of Georgia among younger generations—advancing public diplomacy, and encouraging the deepening of cultural and economic ties with host countries. The program also ensures informational support for the aforementioned objectives.

The grant program enables Georgian citizens to realize their ideas through a transparent competition process, thereby enriching diaspora-related activities and strengthening connections between Georgia and compatriots living abroad.

The selection of grant recipients will be conducted through a competitive procedure by a commission comprising representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Administration of the President of Georgia, the Parliament’s Committee on Diaspora and Caucasus Issues, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implemented the “Support for Diaspora Initiatives” grant program since 2019.

Eligibility for participation in the competition is granted to Georgian citizens who have resided abroad for at least one year and who hold the legal right to reside in the host country for no less than one additional year, either individually or jointly with a Georgian citizen residing in Georgia.

Grant applications will be accepted exclusively in electronic form until 21 December 2022 at the following address: [email protected]
