Alexander Khvtisiashvili

Biography

Born on 27 March 1975 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Professional Experience

Since 2018, he has served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

From 2015 to 2018, he held the position of Director of the Department of International Economic Relations, and from 2014 to 2015, he served as Deputy Director of the same department.

Between 2011 and 2014, he worked at the Embassy of Georgia in the United Kingdom and at Georgia’s Permanent Representation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as Senior Counsellor, where he also performed the functions of Georgia’s Alternate Permanent Representative to the IMO.

From 2010 to 2011, he served as Senior Counsellor at Georgia’s Permanent Representation to the International Maritime Organization.

From 2009 to 2010, he worked in the Department of European Integration, serving as Head of the Division for EU Policy Analysis and Programme Coordination.

Between 2006 and 2009, he held various positions within the Department of International Economic, Cultural, and Humanitarian Relations, including Counsellor, Head of Division, and Deputy Director.

From 2004 to 2006, he served as Counsellor at the Department of International Economic Relations.

Between 2000 and 2004, he worked as Counsellor at the WTO Division.

From 1997 to 2000, he served at the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, working first as Senior Specialist and later as Head of the WTO Division.

Education

In 1996, he graduated from the Georgian Technical University, earning a qualification as a Technical Expert in International Economic Relations.

In 2008, he completed studies at the Georgian Customs Academy with a specialization in Business Administration.

In 2017, he was awarded the diplomatic rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.

He is proficient in English and Russian.
He is married and has two children.
