Visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Republic of Bulgaria
On 25 July the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Teimuraz Janjalia, started a visit to the Republic of Bulgaria.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Bulgaria were established on June 5, 1992.
A solid contractual legal framework exists between Georgia and the Republic of Bulgaria, which regulates cooperation in the areas such as, trade, energy, agriculture, tourism, as well as the interaction in the European and Euro-Atlantic fields.
Georgia-Bulgaria Inter-parliamentary Friendship Groups exist in the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Cooperation in field of education is active. Annually, 60 Georgian students get education in various Bulgarian University, including American University in Bulgaria located in Blagoevgrad.
Tradition of cooperation formed between higher educational and research centers shall be noted. For instance, cooperation between the University of St. Sofia Kliment Ohridski and Tbilisi State University; cooperation between St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate of Georgia and the Institute of Byzantine heritage studies of Bachkovo monastery in Bulgaria.
A significant part of historic and cultural relations is the Bachkovo Monastery founded by brothers Bakurianisdzes in the Republic of Bulgaria, where the Miraculous Georgian icon of St. Mary is placed.

On 26 July, within the framework of his working visit to the Republic of Bulgaria, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teimuraz Janjalia met with Dragomir Zakov, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
On 26 July 2023, another round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Bulgaria was held in Sofia. The Georgian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister Teimuraz Janjalia, while the Bulgarian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tihomir Stoychev.
Within the framework of his visit to Bulgaria, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, met the Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Mariya Gabriel.
