The Georgian delegation led by Georgia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, paid a working visit to Hong Kong. The delegation included Giorgi Pertaia, President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Paata Kalandadze, Georgia’s Ambassador to the People's Republic of China.
During the visit, Deputy Minister Khvtisiashvili held high-level meetings with Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong government; Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics; Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Kevin Yeung, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism; and Patrick Lau, Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
During these meetings, the Georgian side provided detailed information on the investment and business opportunities available in Georgia, with particular emphasis on cooperation in transport and logistics, innovation, tourism, and trade.
The discussions highlighted the Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and Hong Kong, which has been in force since February 2019, and the recent milestone that, starting from September 30, 2024, Georgia and Hong Kong, through mutual efforts, have established a visa-free regime for Georgian citizens entering the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China.
Both sides agreed to continue joint efforts to deepen collaboration, facilitate reciprocal visits, and maintain close connections.
As part of the visit, the Georgian delegation participated in the high-level Asian Logistics, Maritime, and Aviation Conference titled "Alternative Supply Chain Solutions: Resilience and Sustainability."
Additionally, the Georgian delegation held meetings with the leaders of approximately ten prominent local and international transportation, logistics, and trade companies based in Hong Kong.
